Here’s an interview with Brian Kluth, a minister who used a survey to generate amazing publicity and PR. The techniques he used to leverage a survey into coverage in more than 160 media outlets–including The Wall Street Journal, NBC, MSNBC, Reuters, and more–are techniques any business owner or entrepreneur can use and leverage just as easily.
After hearing anecdotal accounts in the press that donations were down, he did a survey to find out if they were true.
That survey got so much coverage that he’s now the “go-to guy” for information on donations and has relationships with reporters who are waiting to report the results of this year’s “State of the Plate” survey.

Excellent information! I’ve taken lots of surveys that contain at least a few of these mistakes — especially not including the option to “skip” a response. Really frustrating when the question doesn’t apply to me.
When I take a survey or poll, I like them to be concise, straightforward, quick, and easy to complete. As a matter of interest, I won’t complete a survey that’s more than 10 questions. Who has time for THAT?
